Applications are now being accepted for the 2012 Footlighters Scholarship. Auditions are Tuesday, March 13 3:00pm-6:00pm and Saturday, March 17 9:00am-1:00pm. Each year, the Musical Theatre West Footlighters sponsor a scholarship program in which five high school students are given $1,000 each to help further their studies in the arts.
Applications are received from students across Southern California, and auditions are held in the spring, judged by a panel of industry professionals.
The five winners are asked to perform at a Footlighters luncheon where they will be awarded their checks. Those auditioning that have been a lead in their high school musical in the current award year are eligible to be chosen for entry into the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (the “Jimmys”) to compete for cash prizes and scholarship opportunities.
We’re pleased to announce that one of 2010’s scholarship winners, Kyle Selig, won the Jimmy Award!
