at 7:30 PM ONLY

Musical Theatre West is proud to present Musical Theatre Guild's 45th Anniversary production of the multiple Tony Award-winning REDHEAD. MTG, a company of professional performers who present concert staged readings of seldom seen musicals, will continue their ninth season of Broadway in Concert by beginning this exciting relationship with MTW, bringing these unique concerts to the Long Beach and Northern Orange County area audiences. Staged readings are the full show with orchestra, minimal sets and costumes and the actors frequently will carry their scripts.

The performance will take place on Monday, November 29, 2004 at 7:30 pm at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center. The Long Beach performance follows their engagement at the Alex Theatre in Glendale.

With a score by Albert Hague and the legendary Dorothy Fields and a book by Dorothy and Herbert Fields, David Shaw, and Sidney Sheldon, REDHEAD is a sexy murder mystery musical. Part Agatha Christie and part Keystone comedy, the show is rarely performed, yet ran 452 performances and swept the 1959 Tony Awards, not only for its two stars, Gwen Verdon and Richard Kiley, but also for Best Musical, Best Director & Choreographer (Bob Fosse) and Best Librettist and Best Composer.

Starring in this production is Tony Award nominee Jane Lanier (JEROME ROBBINS' BROADWAY, FOSSE) who was the choreographer for MTW's production of KISS ME, KATE last season. Also starring with Ms Lanier will be Sam Zeller, Kevin McMahon (MTW's CRAZY FOR YOU and ME AND MY GIRL), Carol Kline and Kathryn Skatula (MTW's LA CAGE AUX FOLLES). Also featured in the cast are Doug Carfrae, Melissa Fahn, Shauna Markey, Darrell Sandeen and Glenn Shiroma.

MTW joins forces with MTG to present Tony Award winner, REDHEAD This is the second collaboration between Musical Theatre West and the Musical Theatre Guild. MTG's educational outreach program THE HISTORY OF MUSICAL THEATRE IN 42 MINUTES AND 28 SECONDS has been presentedby Musical Theatre West at local schools for over 5000 students over the past two years and was received enthusiastically by an audience of over 250 at MTW's recent Open House.
