STAGED CONCERT PRESENTATIONS OF

PRESENTED BY MUSICAL THEATRE GUILD

Monday November 21, 2005
7:30 pm

PRESS RELEASE

With some of the most famous show tunes ever written, like "Tea for Two" and "I Want to be Happy", NO, NO NANETTE's 1971 production started the nostalgia craze on Broadway (the original was a big hit in 1925). Refreshing, uplifting and jubilant, it tells the story of Jimmy Smith and all the trouble he gets into and out of one madcap summer weekend. The winner of four TONY¨ Awards, NO, NO NANETTE ran for 861 performances and is the perfect centerpiece for this new season.

- ABOUT MUSICAL THEATRE GUILD -

Now in it's ninth season MTG is a company of professional musical performers dedicated to preserving the art of the musical by presenting rarely seen, forgotten and undiscovered works in concert staged readings. Prior shows have included the West coast premiers of PARADE and Stephen Sondeim's PASSION and SATURDAY NIGHT. The Los Angels Times declares: "The Musical Theatre Guild occupies one of the most distinctive niches in L.A. Theatre." They produce five shows a year at the Alex Theatre in Glendale. Their program THE HISTORY OF MUSICAL THEATRE IN 42 MINUTES AND 28 SECONDS has been presented by Musical Theatre West at local schools for over 3000 students and was received enthusiastically at the recent Footlighters luncheon. Musical Theatre West is pleased to bring these shows to the Carpenter Performing Arts Center.
