PRESS RELEASE October 21, 2005: Musical Theatre West is proud to present Musical Theatre Guild's production of NO, NO, NANETTE at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center, Monday, November 21, 2005 at 7:30 PM. MTG is a company of professional performers who present concert staged readings of seldom seen musicals and will open their tenth season of Broadway in Concert by continuing this exciting relationship with MTW that began last season by bringing these unique concerts to the Long Beach and Northern Orange County area audiences. Staged readings are the full show with orchestra, minimal sets and costumes and the actors frequently will carry their scripts. The Long Beach performance follows their engagement at the Alex Theatre in Glendale on November 14, 2005. NO, NO, NANETTE, with lyrics by Irving Caesar and Otto Harbach, music by Vincent Youmans and a book by Harbach and Frank Mandel, originally opened in 1925 and was subsequently revived in 1971 for a run of 861 performances. Its success is widely considered the milestone that set off the revival craze in the early '70's and '80's. The frothy plot incorporates the musical comedy classics "Tea for TwoÓ and "I Want To Be HappyÓ.
